Why produce corporate video?

The whole purpose of business video is to express a message that ultimately increases your bottom line. This is true for training videos, marketing videos, or those for shareholders and employees. To do this effectively the message must be received by the viewer.

Simply put: if your message is not exciting, why would anyone want to hear it?

A plain, straight forward video will get the point across to an astute viewer or a good employee. However to interest a client, inspire sales staff, or excite shareholders something more might be necessary.

How effective would it be for your organization if your video was entertaining, relevant, and inspiring?

How to get your message heard

This may be obvious, but it is worth breaking down the individual steps we must take for maximum effectiveness.

Clarify the message to convey; point A.

Consider who, where, why, how and when the viewer will be watching your video; point B.

Create a clear path from point A to point B; message to viewer.

This might be a sales message from the marketing department delivered through a 60 second Internet marketing video to your at home website visitor looking for your immediate solution.

It might be a safety training video from your training department packaged in a 30 minute DVD for an employee studying on the job for a new position.

The website visitor might be tired, rushed, or in pain and needs to quickly see that you have the solution. The employee might be groggily training right after lunch, anxious to get back to work so they can go home.

Once we know clearly what we want to say and have identified the viewer’s circumstances, we can structure and deliver the message in the way the viewer wants to absorb it.

Applying the lesson

Consider the sleepy employee who must review training videos. A plain, straight forward video might be effective for your best employees – probably employees who don’t need the training. For average employees such a video might send them into deep slumber. Ways around this might mean training first thing in the morning, or basing pay on training results or job performance. An alternative or supplemental solution is to create a training video that entertains as it trains.

Making straight forward video for a potential customer might be most effective, especially if the product or service offered resolves an immediate need such as instant relief migraine medicine.

On the other hand, if the offering is not immediately needed, a creative, energetic, and fun video is more likely to stay with the viewer and allow them to keep thinking about your offering throughout the sales process.

The purest transmission of your message will be the most effective. This requires clarity of the message and focusing on ways to increase the receptivity of the viewer. The corporate video production company that can facilitate this process for you deserves your business.
